Riding on the back of a motorbike with a local through the night – warm wind making my eyes water, quiet darkness out in the open between the villages. This was my favourite thing to do during my last visit to Goa: elated, and excited – not knowing what adventures the night will give.
I feel like myself again. I am happy in this moment.
Vagator welcomed me back as I knew it would. To Disco Valley for Goa Gil!
I can still find the steps down the cliff in the dark. Thinking of my cousin, Susan, listening to cassettes of Goa Gil on the beach 31 years ago. A quiet, emotional moment sitting on the rocks on the shore in the dark with Ben.
The music and the crowd are positive, happy and wonderfully inclusive. This music and this scene started right here, on this beach, with this musician. I feel privileged to dance to music created by the original Psy Babba.
NYE at Hill Top, as it should be.
The tunes are banging, the sound system is perfect, the crowd is chilled out, happy and engaged with the music (after about 2.00 am). A perfect night, a wonderful morning, and we drag ourselves home by lunchtime on the 1st. – Tired, sore feet, covered in sand, and happy.
Made new friends on the dance-floor, and shared stellar tunes. It was all so very, very good!
I’m not looking forward to facing Dhaka after this.
